WeGoTrip announces the start of a new round of fundraising

The investment will enable WeGoTrip to accelerate the development of self-guided tours in new regions and new languages in the post-demic travel market.

February 22, 2022 — WeGoTrip, the marketplace for self-guided tour with museum tickets, has announced the start of a seed series fundraiser.

«We are at a true inflection point in travel. The pandemic has accelerated the growth of online tours bookings, along with a rise in the share of independent travel. Nearly one in five U.S. tour-takers took a self-guided tour in 2019, according to Arival's Inside the Mind of the Modern Tour Taker. Despite the removal of covid restrictions in most countries, the proportion of travelers who prefer contactless types of tours is still growing. Travelers no longer want to use museum audio guides for fear of being re-infected,» said Alexander Golovatyy, CEO and co-founder of WeGoTrip.

In 2021, WeGoTrip continued to grow in the EU and US markets despite covid restrictions in most countries of the world. At the end of 2021, GMV increased by 1.5 times compared to the pre-pandemic 2019. Customer loyalty hit an all-time high in the last three years, with 16.3% of travelers making more than two purchases a year, and some up to 12. WeGoTrip has invested resources in new partnerships with museums, tour operators and OTA (online travel agencies) who have recognized the need to develop a new product line for self-travelers. As a result, WeGoTrip was able to enter into new partnerships with the largest OTA: GetYourGuide, Viator, Booking, Tiqets, Airbnb, Musement, best museums around the world etc. In 2019, WeGoTrip was one of the first in the world to provide self-guided audio tours with museum tickets to travelers in one app screen. In 2021, WeGoTrip became the first company to achieve two-way partnerships: museums and some tour operators have been provide audio tours with tickets, but also became our sales partners.

«Before pre-seed fundraising in 2021, we were already a profitable company. The new fundraising will help the company reach its main goal of producing 8,000 audio tours in 6 languages. This will enable us to achieve the highest levels of customer loyalty and repeat purchases among our peers. WeGoTrip has everything it takes to become the best solo travel app: a talented global team, a proven business model, a detailed action plan with proven growth hypotheses, and most importantly, a large and growing market for solo travel,» Alexander added.
